National Apprenticeship Week: how are we attracting and developing people?

In a world where skills gaps are widening and competition for talent remains high, apprenticeships provide a powerful alternative to traditional recruitment. They open doors for people who might not follow conventional pathways, helping organisations build more diverse, future‑focused talent pipelines.

Apprenticeships offer a shared benefit. Individuals gain meaningful experience, confidence and qualifications. Employers develop people who understand the organisation’s culture, purpose and customers from day one. It’s long‑term thinking in action.

This week, as we celebrate National Apprenticeship Week, it’s worth challenging ourselves to think differently about how we attract and develop people. Instead of searching for ready-made talent, we can choose to nurture it.

Because when we get apprenticeships right, we’re not just filling vacancies, we’re shaping futures.
